The Office for Victims of Crime has announced $90 million through the FY2026 Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Formula Program.
This funding supports services for crime victims in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Funds may be used for direct services, traditional healing practices, strategic planning, facilities, victim-service personnel, and other costs necessary to strengthen a Tribe’s response to crime victims.
This is not an open competitive grant. Only Tribal applicants that completed the required population-certification process and received an invitation from OVC may apply.

OVC FY2026 Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Formula Program
The Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Formula Program distributes funding to eligible Tribal entities through a discretionary administrative formula based on approved population certifications.
The program is designed to give Tribal communities flexibility in developing and strengthening victim services based on their specific needs, cultures, infrastructure, and service environments.

Maximum FY2026 Award: Up to $650,000
Project Period: October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2031
Award Type: Formula grant
Match Requirement: No cost sharing or matching funds required
Annual supplemental funding may be allocated from FY2027 through FY2030 based on the availability of federal funds and the recipient’s progress.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants are limited to entities that:
Submitted an FY2026 Population Certification
Had that certification accepted by OVC
Received an official invitation to apply for FY2026 funding
Participating entities may include:
Federally recognized Indian Tribes
Tribal consortia
Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Regional Corporations
Authorized Tribal designees

Because this is a formula program, the central question is not whether an invited Tribe can outscore hundreds of competitors. The question is whether the proposed plan reflects documented community needs, responsible financial stewardship, sustainable
implementation, and the capacity to manage the award over a multiyear period.
Invited applicants should use the planning process to build services that can be implemented and sustained, not simply to assemble a list of allowable expenses.
